Principal Electrical Design Engineer
Position Summary:
A well-established and highly regarded international company is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their Product Design Departments in the southern suburbs of Atlanta, GA. The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will oversee projects to achieve specific targets for vehicles, including function, performance, durability, cost reduction, and ease of manufacturing.
•Determine the root cause of failures.
•Improve the Product Development process through engineering studies and the creation of electrical systems, specification sheets, 3D CAD models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOMs.
oDevelop new electrical components that enhance product performance and leverage technological advancements.
oFollow the company's development process and submit deliverables.
oManage Schedule, Cost, and Quality to ensure project completion.
oPlan, design, and supervise projects.
•Contribute to vehicle design as part of a team.
Responsibilities:

•Manage and lead the design and development of electrical scope for projects.
•Oversee the entire electrical system design.
•Complete electrical component and system design.
•Create detailed 2D drawings to support project subassemblies and installations.
•Prepare engineering release documentation for parts.
•Contribute as a member of cross-functional teams to ensure quality and timely product development.
•Analyze market claims and develop necessary countermeasures.
•Collaborate with domestic and international suppliers.
•Lead communication with company headquarters in Japan for electrical projects.
Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
•5-10 years of experience in electrical component and system design, preferably in the automotive industry.
•Experience in electronic circuit design and verification of embedded equipment and systems.
•Advanced knowledge of CPUs.
•Experience in embedded software design and verification.
•Experience with microcontroller integration (preferably for automotive applications).
Other Required Skills:
•Experience in overall vehicle control system development.
•Experience in wire harness and small electrical component design (e.g. headlights, switches, meters).
•Experience in PCB design, testing, and troubleshooting.
•Understanding of electromagnetic waves, sensors, image processing, and radio waves principles and features.
•Ability to design control systems based on electrical engineering principles.
•Ability to verify and test control systems based on principles.
•Ability to create and execute plans to address technical challenges.
•Demonstrated leadership skills in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
•Ability to plan and prioritize multiple technical assignments up to 6 months in advance.
•Experience in vehicle navigation system design.
•Experience in deep cycle battery design.
•Experience in battery charging profile design based on battery reaction principles.
•Experience in lithium-ion battery design.
•Experience in battery management system (BMS) design based on battery reaction principles.
•Software development and/or integration with hardware.
•Control logic design based on QFD and principles/characteristics of controlled objects.
•CPU internal structure design.
•Experience with automotive vehicle communication protocols (CAN/LIN).
