Principal Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Orangeburg, SC

We are seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Orangeburg, SC. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and designing complex manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. You will have full technical responsibility for independent technical projects that support manufacturing operations, including machining, metal forming, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing complex advisory support in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations.
  • Conceiving and planning projects involving major production activities, exploration of product and/or process problems, and the definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in manufacturing operations.
  • Conducting independent technical investigations involving the application of complex technical principles.
  • Evaluating test and production data, preparing technical analysis, and recommending manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Coordinating complex technical matters relating to assembly drawing interpretation, Engineering Change Notices, rework, and manufacturing difficulties and specifications.
  • Coordinating with other technical support personnel.
  • Assigning work to drafters and technicians, technical writers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required.
  • Providing work leadership for lower-level employees.

This role is designated 100% On-site.

  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology
  • Experience with analytical and CAD software
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing theory and design
