Principal Process Engineer

The successful candidate for the position of Principal Process Engineer must possess the skills and expertise necessary to provide expert production/process engineering support for ongoing production operations and new process introductions at our State College facility. This role will play a pivotal role in implementing engineering studies, designs, evaluations, and improvements to optimize equipment utilization.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as project engineer responsible for scope, schedule, and cost on process improvement projects of varying sizes.
  • Coordinate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes and ensure the implementation of recommendations through resolution. Generate periodic utilization reports for processing unit equipment.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement process changes, cost studies, economic evaluations, and new process development to optimize utilization in the production unit.
  • Direct and monitor productivity, process yields, and product and process performance to meet production commitments efficiently.
  • Provide engineering services to optimize equipment life and plant profitability. Collaborate with plant personnel to identify, develop, and manage improvement projects.
  • Assume an advisory role and assist in the day-to-day troubleshooting of equipment and processes in the Unit.
  • Support the identification of unit-specific equipment and areas susceptible to corrosion or erosion effects.
  • Facilitate maintenance planning and staffing by providing economic impacts of maintenance activities.
  • Manage the company's engineering efforts by offering continuous leadership and expertise.
  • Train on new technologies and methods for maintaining equipment to increase reliability.
  • Apply best practices in online equipment health monitoring, inspection, and repair techniques.
  • Identify actual operating variable ranges for equipment and compare them to design specifications.
  • Evaluate the process and economic impacts associated with equipment failures and operating reliability.
  • Champion reliability efforts by providing technical assistance to resolve equipment design, operation, and maintenance problems.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions and conduct life cycle cost analysis on new and critical equipment.
  • Estimate costs for engineering and construction projects and prepare contract documents.
  • Lead Turn-around planning and support implementation.
  • Recommend projects and studies to Engineering to improve overall plant reliability and develop cost justifications.
  • Review equipment specifications and standards, and provide recommendations for reliability improvement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6-12 years of experience in chemical manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
