Job Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the completion of construction projects and managing the daily operations of a job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement. They will supervise other Superintendents and direct labor positions, as well as manage any contracted work to ensure successful project completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review construction specifications to plan procedures and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop and utilize schedules to track progress and identify potential issues.
  • Coordinate pre-construction meetings and mobilization.
  • Ensure timely procurement of tools and materials according to work schedules.
  • Direct supervisory personnel in executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating construction phases.
  • Update craft personnel on construction issues and gather input for solutions.
  • Meet with subcontractors to review scope of work and schedule.
  • Regularly update clients on project progress.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances with the project workforce.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Manage projects based on progress reports, material usage, and costs.
  • Work with Craft Resources Manager to optimize labor costs and assignments.
  • Assist Project Manager in preparing the Project Management Plan.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Supervise Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and direct labor positions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of project management experience in commercial construction.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills.
  • Ability to resolve problems and collaborate effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial construction processes and laws.
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience in contract negotiations.
  • Understanding of building codes and design requirements.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading.
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in a team.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • The ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently and safely.
  • Preferred professional affiliation and credential.
