Lead Estimator - Danbury, CT

Responsibilities:

• Attend pre-bid or team scope review meetings and comprehend the complete scope of work required, even with limited information
• Analyze and understand all project bid documents
• Identify, notify, and share bid information with subcontractors and vendors for quotations on outsourced work
• Perform estimate takeoff within specified time constraints using on-screen computer estimating
• Collaborate with other estimators, company divisions, and departments
• Compile and finalize the estimate within the given deadline
• Participate in team reviews with management on bid day
• Evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors to ensure completeness of scope of work, schedule adherence, compliance with specifications, and other bid requirements
• Prepare value engineering analysis to optimize customer interests
• Develop detailed scope of work narrative
• Support field operations with the estimate after bid award
• Meet proposal due date schedules
• Anticipate requirements for producing estimates with minimal information
• Maintain a holistic perspective on customer satisfaction while focusing on the details

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical estimating within industrial, HVAC, and/or plumbing sectors
• Proficiency in process piping estimation
• Thorough knowledge of estimating for Design-Build and plan spec projects
• Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheets and computerized on-screen takeoff programs
• Ability to produce accurate, timely, and competitive estimates with limited data
• Strong anticipation skills for identifying cost components in Design-Build projects
• Excellent communication skills with customers, vendors, subcontractors, general contractors, and owners
• Knowledge of HVAC, industrial, and plumbing piping systems
• Experience in both design-build and plan spec projects
• Preferred 10+ years of experience in heavy industrial, HVAC, and/or plumbing estimating
• Experienced process piping estimator
