Senior Plant Performance Manager

Location: Astoria, NY

Job Summary:

As a Senior Plant Performance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a fleet of 21 fossil power plants located in Astoria, NY. These plants have a combined capacity of over 14,000 MW and play a crucial role in electricity production for ISONE, NYISO, and PJM. Your main responsibilities will include managing risk, analyzing and controlling programs, developing tools for performance analysis, and identifying opportunities for improvement. Additionally, you will provide support for process enhancements, monitor performance, and conduct root cause analysis.

Responsibilities:

Track, coordinate, and lead a team in resolving critical plant performance issues. Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions to mitigate financial impact. Improve and maintain tools for supporting these activities. Present findings to the executive team.

Track, coordinate, and report fleet outage schedules, incidents, and performance metrics. Develop tools to facilitate these tasks. Coordinate with various teams including Engineering, Commercial, and Settlements.

Develop performance metrics for the fleet and collaborate with plant managers to achieve them.

Act as the primary GADS administrator, ensuring accurate and timely data submission to various ISOs. Manage and collaborate with O&M service provider for data collection and review.

Partner with plant managers and technical experts to optimize plant operations, ensuring compliance with key performance indicators.

Utilize analytical tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Python to analyze power generation fleet data collected through GADS and PI systems.

Implement preventive and predictive maintenance techniques to monitor and improve equipment performance. Analyze process variables to monitor key operating parameters.

Qualifications/Skill and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, along with a Master's in Business Administration

Minimum of ten years' experience in technical support within a power plant, gas turbine, or large industrial setting

Sound knowledge and understanding of NYISO, NEISO, and PJM processes and procedures

Proficiency in utilizing data collection and analysis tools such as GADS, OSI PI, etc.

Strong understanding of power plant processes and equipment, including their interrelationships

Comprehensive knowledge of power plant operations

Effective leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and consistently to peers, employees, and contractors/vendors

Strong risk management abilities, able to allocate resources judiciously

Proficient in conducting root cause analysis and writing technical reports

Strong computer skills, including proficiency in PC, Windows, Microsoft Office applications, and relevant software for analysis and documentation

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
