Transportation and Collection Senior Manager

Manages the daily collection operations of a single site with multiple Lines of Business, establishes and maintains performance and productivity metrics, and oversees cost management processes. This role is responsible for the profit and loss of the site, with direct reports including Route Managers.

Job Functions

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the district and provides support to drivers in ensuring safety, service, and cost savings.
  • Ensures compliance with company, OSHA, and other safety standards and regulations.
  • Conducts thorough investigations into injuries and incidents, providing consistent coaching and retraining.
  • Oversees personnel needs, including hiring, coaching, disciplining, training, and evaluating employees.
  • Develops short-term and long-term goals and action plans in collaboration with senior management.
  • Participates in regular profit and loss reviews and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization and cost control.
  • Interacts with local government agencies to maintain customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, and negotiate contracts.

Education:

Associate's Degree, High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of relevant work experience.

Experience:

2 years in a supervisory and/or profit and loss role (in addition to education requirement).

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record throughout employment

Experience in at least 2 of the following areas is required: operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resource function, supervision or management; implementing safety programs and equipment specifications; budget preparation and management; resolving labor relations issues.

In this role, you would:
  • Manage the daily collection operations of a single site with multiple Lines of Business
  • Establish and maintain performance and productivity metrics, and cost management processes
  • Be responsible for the profit and loss of the site, with Route Managers reporting directly to you
We are seeking candidates with:
  • Experience in managing people and budgets, specifically with profit and loss experience
  • Budgets range from $100 million to $250 million depending on the site
  • The ideal candidate would come from Telecom, Rail, Mining, Quarry, or Oil & Gas industries and would be involved in community outreach efforts
