Sr. Process Engineer

Location: Topeka, KS plant

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site (M-F, 6:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.)

In this role you will:

  • Improve safety, quality, and productivity in the Department area by eliminating defects, identifying and executing loss-saving initiatives, and developing operating teams' capabilities.

  • Lead the Commissioning, Qualification and Verification (CQV) process for new projects. Act as the main point of contact and organizational leader between the engineering and operations teams to ensure full involvement during project execution and a seamless transition to operations.

  • Foster a high-performance work culture by engaging with team members on the floor, coaching them to problem solve, make decisions, and become self-reliant.

  • Attain expert-level understanding of the manufacturing process, mechanics, instrumentation, and product specifications of your designated line/area. Provide technical support to the line/area teams.

  • Coach operating teams and leadership to identify root causes of losses and eliminate them.

  • Improve line/area performance by implementing and coaching effective Continuous Improvement methodologies. Nurture a culture of zero losses.

  • Take ownership of a safety and/or quality key element.

  • Participate in training and qualification programs for the designated line/area. Take part in assessments, ensure effective training, and maintain consistent qualification standards.

  • Ensure reliable data collection for the designated line/area in our Proficy plant applications software. Continuously improve data collection methods for accuracy.

  • Prioritize and organize initiatives to align with the department master plan and the plant's long-term vision.

  • Keep the organization up-to-date with relevant new technologies/ingredients.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • 2+ years of manufacturing/engineering experience

  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical processes and systems

  • Proven use of formal problem-solving methodologies

Additional skills and experience that we believe would contribute to success in this role:

  • A Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree

  • Experience in food manufacturing

  • Strong project management skills and technical problem-solving capability
