Senior Engineering Manager

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Our client is a rapidly expanding organization in a specialized industry. They have earned a strong reputation for their commitment to Quality and Engineering excellence, allowing them to consistently increase market share on a global scale. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to oversee capital projects involving new processes, equipment installation, and continuous improvement in the packaging and manufacturing effort. Projects will vary in scope and complexity, with a strong emphasis on timely delivery and optimization. One of the primary responsibilities of this role is to mentor, teach, and develop the engineering team. The Senior Engineering Manager will report directly to the Director of Engineering for the facility.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of capital projects, from initiation to delivery, using established engineering project management processes and procedures
  • Provide guidance and support for the engineering team, fostering their professional growth and development
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, industry best practices, and company engineering standards
  • Oversee the successful completion of all project phases, including scope, budget, execution, and delivery
  • Manage internal and external resources throughout the duration of each project
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Offer technical solutions, design support, and equipment troubleshooting assistance to operations
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects, including justifications and return on investment analysis
  • Develop expertise in new systems to efficiently train and guide plant engineers and maintenance staff
  • Demonstrate the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Propose and implement work processes, procedures, and technical resources aligned with the Engineering Policy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 10-25 years of experience in Project Engineering or Management within a fast-paced manufacturing setting, preferably in the Food or Pharma industry
  • Strong expertise in capital project management, including initiation, planning, and execution
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Microsoft Projects, with the ability to use CAD for system designs and machine layouts
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, construction drawings, and other technical documents
  • Preferred experience in the beverage, aseptic, and/or food manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of financial analysis, relevant business KPIs, and CAPEX budgeting and preparation
