Major established international and well-known company is seeking a talented Senior Vehicle Test Engineer to join their Testing Department located in Atlanta, GA.
The Senior Vehicle Test Engineer will be responsible for managing projects aimed at achieving specific targets for various vehicles, including function, performance, durability, cost reduction, and ease of manufacturing. This position requires collaboration with other members of the testing and design engineering teams, as well as following guidance from management. As a hands-on role, it entails both electrical and mechanical aspects, involving vehicle teardown and rebuilding. Troubleshooting at customer sites is also required. We are looking for an innovative thinker who can contribute to the full cycle of the project, including vehicle wiring. • Develop new vehicles that improve product performance and incorporate technological advancements.
• Follow the internal development process and submit deliverables.
• Manage schedule, cost, and quality to successfully complete projects.
• Plan, design, and supervise project activities.
• Identify causes of failure and implement improvements to product development and quality assurance processes.
• Manage entire vehicle development project.
• Build prototype parts, components, systems, and vehicles for evaluation.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluation of parts, components, systems, or vehicles using existing testing protocols and validate results within specified timeframes.
• Evaluate and propose countermeasures for problem list entries.
• Prepare engineering release documentation to validate functionality and durability of parts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely development of a high-quality product within budget.
• Provide deliverables as directed by management or other engineers.
• Analyze causes of market claim parts and develop countermeasure specifications.
• Collaborate with domestic and overseas suppliers.
• Communicate with headquarters in Japan.
• Independently manage tasks to meet project schedules. Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a related field. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 5-10 years of experience in vehicle evaluation or a related field. Candidates with 2 years of experience may be considered for another Testing Engineer position.
• Proficiency in driving vehicles at an advanced level and evaluating performance to provide guidance on meeting vehicle criteria.
• Familiarity with equipment for strain measurement and analysis, vehicle handling, and performance evaluation.
• Ability to plan and manage multiple technical assignments 1-6 months in advance.
• Capacity to develop countermeasure plans for technical challenges.
• Understanding of automobile technologies.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials for both production and prototype quality.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to apply basic mechanical engineering knowledge to real-world vehicle design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Experience with NX 2D/3D operation.
• Knowledge of vehicle navigation system development.
• Background in deep cycle battery development.
• Familiarity with lithium-ion battery development.
