Job Summary of the Accounting Associate: The Accounting Associate will provide support for corporate accounting operations, handle standard cost and inventory control processes, perform month-end close tasks, assist with financial reporting, implement necessary business controls, and address ad hoc queries.
Qualifications of Accounting Associate:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (GL, reporting, costing, public accounting)
• Willingness to work extended hours during month-end close and year-end close.
• Prior public accounting experience
• Background in manufacturing/assembly/ distribution
• Experience with Infor XA system is a plus
• CPA certification is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with month-end close procedures
• Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliation preparation
• Ability to create and post journal entries
• Working knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable
Responsibilities of the Accounting Associate:
• Review purchase price variances and collaborate with other departments to resolve inventory valuation and purchase price issues
• Perform assigned month-end close duties, including accrual calculations, journal entry entries, and general ledger account reconciliations
• Maintain XA general ledger and chart of accounts
• Monitor accuracy of revenue and cost of goods sold assignments in the system
• Manage customer rebate accrual and related credit request process
• Supervise intercompany inventory transfers and ensure timely and accurate goods receipt
• Generate daily and weekly reports on sales, inventory consumption, vendor rebates, and other specified metrics
• Execute monthly and weekly reporting tasks for cost accumulation reporting on company assets
• Assist in the administration of the company’s indirect expense process
• Support the capital expenditure process from approval to asset setup and monthly reporting
• Assist in the administration of the purchasing card program and record expenses through journal entries
• Conduct monthly analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement
• Coordinate with the corporate tax team to provide timely tax-related financial information
• File monthly GST and sales and use tax reports and oversee the Avalara tax engine
• Assist with annual financial audit and interim audit procedures
• Assist in the implementation of internal controls, including evaluation, recommendation, maintenance, and monitoring
• Contribute to system enhancements and integration efforts across the organization
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders to respond to inquiries or requests for Powerlink financial data reporting
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information, protect organization assets, demonstrate ethics and integrity, report non-compliance, and adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
• Identify accounting issues, research solutions, and present conclusions to the supervisor
