Legal Counsel
A prestigious global law firm with over a century of experience is looking to hire 2 (two) associates with a minimum of 5 years of commercial litigation experience to join their Commercial Litigation practice group in Los Angeles, CA.
They are in search of a seasoned litigator with at least 5+ years of experience to fill a Staff Attorney position in either their Century City or Los Angeles office. Alternative locations and remote work options will also be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting in litigating and resolving consumer financial services litigation cases for financial institutions under the guidance of Partners in the Consumer Litigation practice group.
- Daily management of individual litigation and arbitration cases, including reviewing correspondence and pleadings, reporting critical issues to the lead Partner, managing calendars, overseeing local counsel, drafting pleadings and motions, and handling discovery processes.
- Communicating with opposing counsel for settlements, preparing recommendations, drafting agreements, making court appearances, and attending arbitration hearings.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent academic background, strong writing and analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, ability to multitask, and comfort in dealing with opposing counsel.
- Preferred experience in handling arbitration matters, defending financial institutions and commercial clients, and familiarity with consumer protection, banking laws, privacy laws, and/or bankruptcy court proceedings.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership in good standing are required.
