Retail Operations Supervisor
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Responsibilities
- Achieve personal selling and client engagement goals
- Manage all activities required to achieve store goals, including financial objectives, client service, human resources management, operational controls, payroll and operating expenses while driving both associate and client engagement
- Manage the set up of advertising displays or arrangements of merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales
- Manage the gallery and its team members in a professional and inclusive manner. Adheres to Human Resource standards by following the general practices outlined in Company policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
- Directly supervise part-time sales employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies. Conduct effective performance discussions; set clear objectives and hold Associates accountable to goals
- Coordinate and execute Owner's Classes, clubs, demos, Creative Classes, and freelance educator events to achieve financial goals
- Provide excellent customer service and innovate to obtain and retain customers. Demonstrate ability to function as a role model, ensuring that the client remains the top priority
- Recruit, select, develop, and retain full store team and hold individuals accountable for performance
Qualifications
- Creativity and Passion with willingness to share your sewing expertise with our customers
- High School diploma or equivalent. Degree in Business or Fashion Design/Merchandising is a Plus!
- One or more years retail experience with a demonstrated success in closing sales. Ability to forecast and analyze business trends, and manage payroll expense in order to maximize store performance
- Direct Knowledge of Our Machines and Products
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing retail environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively with employees through multiple forms of technology with telephone and computer. Must be able to receive and convey information
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, copier/printer, etc as well as have the ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Required to retrieve or reposition products like sewing machines weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including evening, holiday, and weekend shifts
