Summary
The Structures Superintendent plays an active role in coordinating and overseeing the construction of bridges and infrastructure projects. They are responsible for ensuring that all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with the highest standard of workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Manager to develop work plans, including safety action plans, and implement the best means and methods for construction.
- Review contracts, project documentation, and plans to ensure that construction work aligns with the latest specifications.
- Plan day-to-day operations on assigned projects, ensuring that necessary resources are available, such as labor, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Take responsibility for crew performance, ensuring alignment with company goals, safety audits, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Implement follow-up actions as needed, including training, orientation, and discipline.
- Conduct daily briefings with the crew to review production goals, provide performance feedback, address safety concerns, and gather feedback.
- Promote a culture of safety by modeling safe work practices, providing education, and enforcing company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the availability and proper use of safety equipment by all field personnel.
- Maintain effective communication with customers, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate work and goals with contractors and subcontractors.
Requirements
Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a pipe foreman and 5 years as a superintendent in civil utility construction.
- Extensive knowledge of underground utilities, including water, storm, and sewer systems.
- Experience in managing crews of 10 or more employees.
- Ability to interpret project-specific documents, such as schedules, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively instruct and oversee crew members.
- Thorough understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions relevant to the job.
- Ability to understand and execute instructions promptly.
- Strong recordkeeping skills, including the preparation of reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders, and project file updates.
- Willingness to perform additional administrative or project-based duties as assigned.
