Description:

- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment, promptly resolving any issues.

- Accurately interpret drawings and specifications to manufacture and repair tooling.

- Utilize various equipment and cutting tools effectively, such as mills, lathes, grinders, and basic tool room equipment.

- Perform machining and assembly tasks on tools and mechanical machines.

- Program CNC tool paths efficiently, determining optimal speeds and feeds.

- Interpret .dwg and .stp files, with experience in part programming using MasterCam.

- Maintain organization and cleanliness in accordance with plant 5S standards.

- Make repairs, improvements, and adjustments on tools and mechanical machines to meet specifications.

- Complete all relevant documents, including work order systems and business management systems.

- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the plant.

- Collaborate with Facilities and Maintenance Manager, engineering personnel, and others to discuss drawings and specifications for clarification.

- Request necessary equipment for machining and assembly work, using available resources efficiently.

- Follow proper safety protocols, promptly addressing any unsafe equipment.

- Seek training on hazardous waste handling and spill procedures, ensuring proper handling of wastes generated.

Environmental Responsibilities:

- Familiarize oneself with safety and spill protocols, as well as hazardous material handling procedures.

- Handle wastes generated from tool making and machine building activities appropriately.

Key Performance Indicators:

- Timely completion of tooling/projects

- Verification of dimensional accuracy for finished parts

- Effective verbal and electronic communication (email, verbal)

- Willingness to pursue education and training relevant to the position

Requirements:

Education/Experience/Training:

- High school diploma or GED

- 5 years of manufacturing experience

- Journeyman status and/or 7-10 years of tool room experience

- Experience in machine building

- Understanding of:

- Metallurgy, cutting feeds, and speeds

- Fabrication and welding

- Blueprint reading

- Mechanical assembly

- CNC equipment setup and operation

- MasterCam module experience

- Familiarity with Fanuc posts and processes

- Vertical CNC experience, with EDM wire being a plus

- Manual mill, lathe, and grinding experience

- Ability to efficiently work within CMMS systems
