Civil Litigation Paralegal

Location: San Diego, CA

Please Note: This role requires in-person presence at our client's office in San Diego, CA, five days a week, with occasional travel to Los Angeles, CA for trial support.

About Our Client

Our client is a reputable law firm specializing in litigation, known for their expertise in handling sensitive and high-stakes cases with care. Currently, they are gearing up for a complex wrongful death trial involving the tragic loss of three children and are in need of a dedicated Trial Paralegal to assist with this significant case. This is a chance to work closely on a meaningful matter alongside a compassionate legal team.

Job Description

  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
  • Draft and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and discovery responses
  • Synthesize and manage medical records and vital case evidence
  • Aid in coordinating expert and lay witnesses, including scheduling and preparation
  • Manage courtroom logistics and technology for trial proceedings
  • Maintain well-organized case files in both digital and physical formats
  • Provide direct courtroom assistance during trials in Los Angeles
  • Ensure adherence to court deadlines and procedural regulations
  • Act as a communication liaison for clients, providing updates on case progress

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
  • At least 2 years of experience specifically in personal injury law
  • Prior experience supporting attorneys in trial settings is necessary
  • Preference for a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  • Associate or bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of civil procedure and state/federal court rules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and trial software like TrialPad and Trial Director
  • Ability to handle emotionally sensitive wrongful death and injury cases
