Project Scheduler

Location: Lemont, IL

The position of Project Scheduler is available in Lemont, IL. As a member of the Turnaround and Capital Construction Department, the Project Scheduler will be responsible for creating detailed, integrated plans and schedules for turnarounds or capital projects of varying complexity. This role includes overseeing the planning, execution, coordination with engineering and procurement, budgeting, and cost control. The Project Scheduler will lead the planning process and ensure that project milestones are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with technical resources, engineering, reliability, inspections, and other departments to develop work scopes.
  • Ensure the procurement of qualified and cost-effective specialty contractors.
  • Create work breakdown structures to support cost tracking, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Analyze work steps and apply critical path analysis logic to optimize the schedule and reduce costs.
  • Assist in developing the annual turnaround and capital construction budget.
  • Provide supervision, training, and coaching to other planners and supervisors.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Prepare management documents to communicate project status, cost, safety, scheduling, and resource utilization.
  • Perform additional site-specific responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of planning experience; OR
  • Have at least 6 years of craft or industrial maintenance experience in a refinery/petrochemical environment if a degree is not obtained.
  • Familiarity with planning software or the ability to learn.
  • Working knowledge of craft disciplines and tools.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of planning experience; OR
  • Have at least 10 years of craft or industrial maintenance experience in a refinery/petrochemical environment if a degree is not obtained.
