Overnight Ultrasonographer

Location: White Plains, NY

Join our team at a highly regarded hospital in the beautiful city of White Plains, NY as an Overnight Ultrasonographer


Thursday-Saturday; 9pm-7am

Perform routine and specialized imaging procedures, diagnostic and medical sonograms. Prepare patients for procedures and assist Radiologists when necessary. Operate and maintain equipment. Develop and process films as needed. Follow established radiology standards of care. Stay up to date with continuing education. Take responsibility for assigned area and duties. Provide excellent customer service. Perform other duties as assigned, including quality assurance.

Exercise professional judgment while performing procedures and provide patient care.

  1. Understand and adhere to performance standards, policies, and behaviors
  2. Perform any other related duties as assigned
  3. Properly prepare and position patients for specific examinations, following different and special requirements for each protocol. Ensure proper documentation and completion of questionnaires for each respective body part
  4. Take responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures and produce high-quality images
  5. Assist physicians during procedures as needed
  6. Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations as necessary and order supplies
  7. Be available to work during emergency procedures or when situations arise, including on-call shifts, holidays, overtime, and day, evening, and overnight coverage to maintain adequate and safe department operation
  8. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories. Report any malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor
  9. Develop and process films or print pictures as needed
  10. Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, documenting patient information, and operating digital x-ray systems
  11. Notify transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to the floor
  12. Show and communicate reports to attending physicians and document communication if necessary
  13. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor
  14. Treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards
  15. Introduce and educate patients and/or family members about the ordered examination
  16. Provide knowledgeable and skillful care based on the age, physical, and psychosocial needs of patients of all age groups: neonates/newborns, pediatric/adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
  17. Perform any other related duties as assigned
  18. Duties and hours may change according to department or hospital needs

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a certified ultrasound program or possession of a Limited Permit/certificate
  • Experience preferred. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification
  • ARDMS certification required for ACR accreditation compliance after January 1, 2019
  • BCLS (CPR) certification is required
