Medical Sonographer

Location: White Plains, NY

Join a highly regarded Community based hospital in White Plains, NY as an Ultrasound Technician in an outpatient setting

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm

Department: Radiology Breast Imaging

The Medical Sonographer will be responsible for performing routine and specialized diagnostic and medical sonograms. They will prepare patients for procedures, assist Radiologists as needed, operate and maintain equipment, develop and process films, and adhere to established radiology standards. The technician will also participate in continuing education and maintain responsibility for assigned areas and duties. Patient care and adherence to outpatient facility-wide customer service programs are essential. Other duties may include quality assurance and providing professional judgment in the performance of procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Understand and adhere to performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
  2. Prepare and correctly position patients for specific examinations, documenting and observing any special requirements.
  3. Assume responsibility for designated areas and produce high-quality technical images.
  4. Assist physicians during practice-based procedures as necessary.
  5. Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations, as well as order supplies.
  6. Be available for emergency procedures and on-call shifts, potentially at other outpatient sites.
  7. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories.
  8. Process CDs or print pictures if needed.
  9. Perform routine office tasks and administrative duties as required.
  10. Show images to radiologists and communicate reports to attending physicians.
  11. May serve as an instructor or preceptor.
  12. Treat all staff and patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  13. Introduce and educate patients and their families about ordered examinations.
  14. Provide knowledgeable and skilled care based on patient populations.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  16. Be flexible with duties and hours based on offsite practice needs.
  17. Participate in coverage rotation at other outpatient offsites.
  18. Eligible for certification incentives.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Completion of a certified ultrasound program or possession of a Limited Permit/certificate.
  • ARDMS certification required for ACR accreditation compliance after January 1, 2019. ARRT(s) or RT(VS) experience preferred.
  • Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification.
  • BLS certification through the AHA (American Heart Association) is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
