Wastewater Supervisor
Location: Fort Madison, IA
Located in a scenic area on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi, Fort Madison, IA offers a low cost of living and abundant outdoor activities. We are currently seeking a Wastewater Team Leader.
Responsibilities:
- Create efficient work schedules for employees
- Train, motivate, and guide employees to follow safe work practices and standards
- Manage labor costs
- Procure supplies and repair parts while ensuring quality
- Monitor machinery and equipment to prioritize employee safety
- Ensure compliance with the plant's safety program
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and standards
- Maintain equipment within the maintenance budget, while complying with the union contract and USDA regulations
- Foster a team-oriented environment, prioritizing personnel safety, food safety, and uptime
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of the wastewater treatment facility and its processes
- Handle all sampling, monitoring, and testing required for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for wastewater treatment, storm water, and sludge management
- Assist with the installation and inspection of new wastewater equipment and services
- Manage the installation, maintenance, and repair of the physical plant, pump stations, and their components
- Schedule and oversee regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs performed by operators and contractors on all plant equipment and machinery
Qualifications:
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a related field preferred
- 3-5 years of previous experience preferred
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Effective verbal communication skills for addressing groups of customers or employees
- Strong mathematical skills for calculations
- Proficiency in applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization
- Capability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based instructions
- Knowledge and experience with Preventative Maintenance programs
