Certified Welding/Maintenance Technician - ARC and MIG
Location: Peachtree City, GA
Major and well-established company with a dominant market share in their manufacturing industry is seeking a Welding/Maintenance Technician. This company offers a positive working culture and has an attractive hourly rate. The day shift role is from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday, with overtime paid at time and a half. Perfect attendance is rewarded with an extra $1.00 per hour. The company also offers a competitive 401K with matching contributions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Level I
- Arc Welding: Perform arc welding in all positions, select appropriate rod for the base material, and apply principles of arc welding.
- Mig Welding: Perform Mig welding in all positions, select proper wire and gases for the base material, and implement principles of Mig welding.
- Tig Welding: Perform Tig welding in all positions, select proper rod and gases, and apply principles of Tig welding.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Apply cutting principles to materials.
- Fabrication: Perform basic fabrication as instructed.
- Safe Work Practices: Follow safety guidelines when working with equipment.
Level II (Includes Level I responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Independently select rods for optimal weld strength and performance.
- Mig Welding: Independently select wire, gases, and pressures for optimal weld strength and performance.
- Tig Welding: Independently select rod, gases, and pressures for optimal weld strength and performance.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Set up torch for minimal impact to work piece with some instruction.
- Fabrication: Perform fabrication with minimal instruction.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment for safety optimization.
Level III (Includes Level I & II responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Certified to perform arc welding in all positions.
- Mig Welding: Certified to perform Mig welding in all positions.
- Tig Welding: Certified to perform Tig welding in all positions.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Independently set up torch for minimal impact to work piece.
- Fabrication: Perform advanced fabrication without instruction.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment for safety optimization.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Candidates should possess a state certified welding certification issued by a certified welding inspector.
Level I
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level II
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level III
- Technical training certificates or associate’s degree, six to eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional skills required:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be able to meet the following requirements:
- Use hands to handle objects, tools, and controls.
- Talk and hear.
- Stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Lift up to 80 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Candidates must be able to work in the following conditions:
- Loud noise level.
- Extreme heat.
- High, precarious places.
- Outside weather conditions.
- Fumes or airborne particles.
- Toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Risk of electrical shock.
- Vibration.
