Location: Newnan, GA
A well-established company with a dominant market share in its industry and a positive work culture is seeking a skilled Welding / Maintenance Technician for a day shift position. The Welding Technician will be responsible for maintaining welding equipment and site property, as well as performing weld repairs in a safe and efficient manner. The company is located in the southwest suburban area of Atlanta, GA and offers an attractive hourly rate, with overtime paid at time and a half. Weekly pay is provided, and there is an additional $1.00 per hour incentive for perfect attendance. The company also offers an appealing 401k plan with matching.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.") General and other duties as assigned.
Level I
- Arc Welding: Capable of performing arc welding in all positions, selecting the appropriate rod for the base material, and applying principles of arc welding throughout the job.
- Mig Welding: Proficient in performing Mig welding in all positions, selecting the proper wire and gases for the base material, and applying the principles of Mig welding throughout the job.
- Tig Welding: Skilled in Tig welding in all positions, selecting the appropriate rod and gases for the base material, and applying the principles of Tig welding throughout the job.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Applying the principles of cutting materials effectively during the job.
- Fabrication: Carrying out basic fabrication tasks with instruction and provided prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Practicing safety protocols around equipment.
Level II (This level includes all Level I responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Independently selecting rods to optimize weld strength and performance without instruction.
- Mig Welding: Independently selecting wire, gases, and pressures to optimize weld strength and performance without instruction.
- Tig Welding: Independently selecting rod, gases, and pressures to optimize weld strength and performance without instruction.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Setting up torch optimally, with some instruction, to minimize impact on the work piece.
- Fabrication: Performing fabrication tasks with minimal instruction and provided prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluating the work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others in the area.
Level III (This level includes all Level I & II responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Certified in Arc welding in all positions.
- Mig Welding: Certified in Mig welding in all positions.
- Tig Welding: Certified in Tig welding in all positions.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Setting up torch optimally without instruction to minimize impact on the work piece.
- Fabrication: Performing advanced fabrication tasks without instruction and providing own prints (may include basic machining).
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluating the work environment to optimize safety for facilities and others in the area.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate should possess a state-certified welding certification issued by a certified welding inspector, either on file or in their possession.
- Level I: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level II: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 2-4 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level III: Technical training certificates or associate’s degree, 6-8 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements.
- Ability to analyze problems, collect data, and establish facts.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and communicate verbally. The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift up to 80 lbs and reach with hands/arms.
