Certified Welding/Maintenance Technician - ARC and MIG
A well-established company with a dominant market share in its industry and a positive work environment has an opening for a Certified Welding/Maintenance Technician. The role of the Welding Technician includes the maintenance of welding equipment and site property, as well as safe and efficient weld repairs to equipment and facilities. The job is located in Peachtree City, GA, which is southwest of Atlanta. The position offers an attractive hourly rate and follows a day shift schedule from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Overtime is paid at time and a half, and there is an additional $1.00 per hour bonus for perfect attendance in a week. Payment is made weekly, and there is an attractive 401K plan with matching.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.") General and other duties as assigned.
Level I
- ARC Welding: Proficient in performing ARC welding in all positions, selecting the proper rod for the base material, and following the principles of ARC welding.
- MIG Welding: Proficient in performing MIG welding in all positions, selecting the proper wire and gases for the base material, and implementing the principles of MIG welding.
- TIG Welding: Proficient in performing TIG welding in all positions, selecting the proper rod and gases for the base material, and following the principles of TIG welding.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw Cutting: Skillful in cutting materials using oxy fuel, plasma, or saw cutting techniques.
- Fabrication: Capable of basic fabrication using supplied prints and instructions.
- Safe Work Practices: Adheres to safe work practices when operating welding equipment.
Level II (This level includes all Level I responsibilities)
- ARC Welding: Can independently select rods to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
- MIG Welding: Can independently select wire, gases, and pressures to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
- TIG Welding: Can independently select rod, gases, and pressures to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma Cutting: Can set up torches with minimal instruction to minimize impact on work pieces.
- Fabrication: Capable of fabrication with minimal instruction using supplied prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluates work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others in the area.
Level III (This level includes all Level I & II responsibilities)
- ARC Welding: Certified in ARC welding in all positions.
- MIG Welding: Certified in MIG welding in all positions.
- TIG Welding: Certified in TIG welding in all positions.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma Cutting: Can independently set up torches to minimize impact on work pieces.
- Fabrication: Capable of advanced fabrication without instruction and can provide own prints (may include basic machining).
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluates work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others in the area.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Should have a state-issued welding certification from a certified welding inspector, either on file or in possession.
- Level I - High school diploma or GED, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level II - High school diploma or GED, two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level III - Technical training certificates or associate’s degree, six to eight years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to analyze problems, collect data, and establish facts.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and to communicate verbally. The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
