Corporate Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Spring Grove, IL

Position Summary:

The Corporate Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading a collaborative effort to establish and cultivate a top-notch process control and quality culture, as well as problem-solving culture. This position provides technical guidance to all manufacturing departments, implements sustainable process enhancements on the shop floor, and aligns customer requirements (Nuclear, Military, Aerospace, NADCAP, AS9001) with the company's manufacturing culture. The role plays a crucial part in supporting shop floor manufacturing operations through intricate problem-solving activities.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Director of Quality and Corporate Quality Assurance Manager to create and execute a best-in-class quality culture.

Lead company-wide continuous improvement initiatives with a strong focus on problem solving and process control, utilizing collaboration and teamwork to drive quality and continuous improvement efforts forward.

Enhance the company's Corrective Action Request (CAR) System by forming teams and gaining support for improvement projects.

Communicate the importance of process control to all Employee Owners at all levels.

Act as a visible leader in fostering the quality culture, engaging hands-on at all levels and stages of implementation and execution. This includes aligning quality cultural expectations with organizational development and training efforts.

Champion quality improvement initiatives across the company and actively lead high-profile quality problem-solving events.

Develop meaningful relationships with company Employee Owners to achieve Best-in-Class performance.

Ensure strong engagement with sales and production leaders.

Coordinate technical support resources to facilitate quality improvement initiatives, including facilitation, statistical analysis, and 6-sigma tools.

Assist the Corporate Quality Assurance Team with internal and external Supplier Quality Audits, as well as layered process audits.

Take ownership of specific processes, overseeing the implementation and maintenance of internal quality systems that support the business, such as non-conformance control, deviation systems, and Corrective Action Systems.

Lead in developing and maintaining company-wide quality metrics, including Daily Collaboration Meetings.

Organize resources to address real-time in-process quality issues that require resolution.

Provide engineering support to ensure consistent application of quality techniques in investigating and resolving non-conformances or process problems.

Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and control plans for key processes and customer projects, as well as in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new product or process design.

Collaborate with Sales, Process Engineering, and subject matter experts to review critical part features, manufacturability of design, and recommend modifications to customer part specifications.

Help the organization acquire and analyze data using standard quantitative statistical methods to drive process improvements.

Prioritize actions in support of customers, ensuring timely responses to internal and external inquiries.

Support continuous improvement and lean initiatives on the shop floor.

Manage and mentor direct reports or interns, ensuring quality employee job results.

Participate in special projects and other assigned duties.

Some overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Metallurgy (or equivalent). Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ) preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of quality leadership experience with hands-on shop floor continuous improvement success.

Six Sigma Black Belt with multiple completed projects. Qualified Lead Auditor in quality systems such as ISO 9001:2008 or AS9100. Experience in metals industry and/or metallurgy knowledge is a plus.

Required Skills:

· Strategic orientation with practical hands-on expertise, excellent communication skills, organization, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Minitab.

· Technical skills: APQP, FMEA, 8-D structured problem solving, 6S and lean tools, value stream mapping (VSM), TPM, root cause analysis, statistics, GD&T.
