Site Manager

Location: Berlin, CT

We are in need of an experienced and well-organized Construction Superintendent to supervise daily construction operations on-site in Berlin, CT. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. As the Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing subcontractors, coordinating site activities, enforcing safety standards, and serving as the primary on-site leader from project initiation to conclusion.

Primary Duties

Site Oversight & Management

  • Supervise all on-site construction activities on a daily basis

  • Plan and schedule subcontractors, labor, and materials

  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with plans, specifications, and local building codes

  • Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and efficiency

Schedule Management & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and manage the project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager

  • Monitor progress and address any delays or issues proactively

  • Conduct regular site inspections to guarantee quality standards are met

  • Verify completed work prior to inspections and turnover

Safety & Adherence to Regulations

  • Enforce all company, OSHA, and site-specific safety rules

  • Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks

  • Identify and rectify unsafe conditions immediately

  • Maintain site safety records and incident reports

Communication & Effective Leadership

  • Act as the main point of contact on-site

  • Communicate efficiently with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients

  • Demonstrate leadership and promote a positive, professional work environment

  • Resolve conflicts and on-site issues promptly

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily logs, progress reports, and manpower tracking

  • Review drawings, RFIs, and change orders as needed

  • Assist with inspections, punch lists, and project closeout documentation

Qualifications

Mandatory

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar position

  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sequencing

  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • Proven track record in managing subcontractors and job-site staff

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problems-solving skills

  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to acquire one)

  • Valid driver’s license

Desired

  • Experience in [commercial / residential / multifamily / industrial] construction

  • Proficiency in scheduling software (Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, or similar)

  • CPR/First Aid certification
